Mixed Bag

My workload this week is a mixed bag. It feels good to challenge my brain on remembering the proper styles for each of these docs. I'm working on some magazine features and I'm really happy to see that some of the lessons I've learned in book editing are making my features stronger. I got the first reports back from my newest client and they were really good. I have this little tiara at my desk. When I get a good report like that, I put it on. No shit. Hey, I work alone from home  and have for a dozen years. I don't have colleagues to high five me. Anyway, the stories are interesting and I'm learning new things, which is terrific.

I'm working on our parish festival - I'm the general chair. It's the biggest fund raiser outside of in-pew giving and this my sixth year - maybe my seventh. Anyway, now I'm getting into the promotions for this year and that's yet another style of writing.
It's tricky to get charitable donations in this economy so wish us luck.

I have a new book to edit this week and my own errata to proof. The errata is the electronic equivalent of gallies for all you printing buffs out there. It's the last chance I'll have to look at it before it becomes a reality. I'm looking forward to my first review arriving this weekend...hope it's good!

I'm working on my video trailer for Awakening. I hadn't planned to do this myself but life happens so now I am. I used to write and direct videos a lot. Glad I learned how to properly write a video script...makes the organization really fast and easy. Thanks to my pal, Rebecca Vickery, for helping me navigate this whole area. If I have a question, Rebecca is the go-to gal.

Love Bites is the other item on my docket. I'm really getting into this paranormal romance and those who are reading this WIP are liking it. I'm still warming up to the characters - what do they look like, how do they act, what are their motivations and triggers. I'm trying to develop a few curse words for the vampires...somehow the traditional "holy shit, christsakes, etc., doesn't seem to be appropriate for these inhuman creatures. Still haven't come up with anything very original. Feel free to chime in your suggestions.

Today I'm getting my publicity picture taken. When I started thinking of this, my mom's words echoed in my head, "Just stand over there by the wall." I can remember all the goofy expressions, half-closed eyes, funky hair and all that crap...I don't want my picture in the newspaper of me "standing against the wall - good enough." LOL So, I'm hoping for a good hair day and straight makeup and if it goes badly, the book cover will have to do.

Well, I'd better get going. Kind of a short day for writing and there's much to do. I hope your summer is going great and you make some time to write about it.

Until the next time.
