All that author stuff

Now aint that just coooooollll?
Awakening Allaire is doing well. Three weeks on the market and it is climbing pages at BookStrand, OmiLit, All Romance EBooks, and Fictionwise. If you read it, please do me a huge favor and go out to one of these sites and rate or review it. Goodreads is a great place to chime in. It makes a difference and I appreciate it so much.

I finally got my hands on a printed copy the other day. Let's have a moment to savor that. BRB. LOL  Okay, it was a Kodak moment for sure. The only thing that pissed me off was I didn't get to keep any of the copies. On the one hand I should be grateful they were sold. On the other, I really wanted to enjoy a copy. My hubby asked me in the middle of the night whether I had a copy under my pillow. Bless his joyful heart. And one of my kiddos said he was gonna buy a shelf full. That's a bit over the top. And he said he was gonna read it with a flashlight under the covers. If I catch him, he's gonna be in big trouble. I got some bookmarks made the other day, too. Thanks, Joe! Yesterday I bought an official autograph pen. Doesn't that just make you wanna giggle? I'll say. I'm sure I'll use it for grocery lists during slow sale months! And so tonight, I sat down and autographed my first 7 copies. We digitally documented it. I even put on a clean shirt for the occasion. My niece, Sara, in North Carolina got the first autographed copy. The other six copies will make their way to North Dakota to friends and shirt tail family. It was fun. Makes you feel important for a couple minutes. I'll try not to let it go to my head.

I'm busy submitting Awakening for reviews. It's time consuming but important. I'm also re-editing Avenging Allaire. Fixing a stinkin error, I'll tell ya, one of these days me and adverbs are gonna have a knock-down, drag-out fight. I don't want to deal with it during the formal edit, because, repeat after me..."I hate track changes." I have to write the dedication, too. I kinda agonize over that stuff too.

What else? This week I wrote the prologue for my friend Donna's anthology. She passed away in June and her daughter asked me to do it. I wanted to remember her well in words. Those are difficult pieces to write. I hope I did her justice. We miss you #25.

I finally wrote "the big moment" in Love Bites. It took me about 85 pages to get them into bed and I think the first part of the evening ran about 7 pages long, for those who want their money's worth. I'm not done yet. LOL Love scenes. They all have different rankings of importance in books. But sometimes when I write a couple together for the first time, I feel as nervous as I always hear guys are in real life. You've built the readers up with to a level of expectation. They have a sense of your writing abilities. The last thing you want them thinking is, "This romance writer needs some Viagra." I don't write sweet romance. I have nothing against it, but I write more vivid detail. I skip the vulgarities and things that make me cringe, but the rest is there. Love Bites even has some multi-partner scenes. Oh come on now, vampires are hedonistic. Do you think they play by any rules? Not.

My chapter in Crimson Surf is out on Romance in the Backseat. This is the round robin I wrote in, where I had to supply the next chapter. This was a lot of fun. There are about 10 authors writing after me. Take 20 minutes and catch up with the romantic suspense. I bet you'll like it! And leave a comment...gotta leave tracks wherever you go!

And lastly, I'm editing my Thanksgiving piece and a paranormal romance. I finished up a magazine feature on Friday and I sure hope a couple more show up this week. Baby needs new shoes.

Speaking of that, it's back to school. Hope everyone going back has a great, inspiring, successful year. I'm looking forward to a lot fewer interruptions.

Thanks for reading.
Until the next time,
The Churchlady
