Interview with a Vampire

The other night I was rudely awakened by the guy in the pic. Ladislav Husek is one of the evil vampires in Love Bites. The Ancient One, as he's known among vamps, wanted to blog.
Now, if Ladislav was a nicer kind of guy, I don't think I'd have hesitated, but he's not. Oozing with machismo, Ladislav can charm whatever he wants off whomever he wants. I didn't want to fall victim to his tactics, so it took me a few days to organize my defenses before I could meet with him.
[LH] Margie, that's not a very nice introduction.
[MC] Hello, Laddy. You're charming as ever.
[LH] I love your pet name for me. It shows you care.
[MC] I think I'm just too lazy to write Ladislav every time.
[LH] I always enjoy these little mental games with you.
[MC] Speaking of mental games, the rule for this interview is you have to stay out of my head. No telepathy or I press delete and you're back in Brno, Czech Republic before the screen goes blank. Am I clear?
[LH] I can see where Jui gets her spunk. I suppose that head-blocking talent of hers was your idea. Judging by the smirk on your face I was right.
[MC] Anyway…moving on. This was your idea, so tell me why you had to wake me up in the middle of the night to chat.
[LH] I wanted to say I got a bum rap in Love Bites.
[MC] Bum rap?
[LH] You made me out to be quite an evil dude.
[MC] You nearly made Wade's head explode and you promised to turn Jui into your toy. And what about the little games you had the Prophets play with Wade? Laddy, you aint nice at all.
[LH] And you're judgmental. The Prophets are my friends. Even vampires need some kind of police action every now and then.
[MC] Those shape shifters seem to have fewer morals than earthworms.
[LH] In our world, morals are useless. And if you were turned into a vampire or a Prophet, you might be pretty pissed off about it. Some of us deal with it better than others.
[MC] And for those who don't, that's where you and the Prophets come in?
[LH] My primary job is to ensure the safety of our vampire nation. Most of us are peaceful creatures and those who aren't are exterminated. The Prophets are handy for that kind of work.
[MC] What's it like being friends with Master Prophet Dirk? Did I just see you bristle?
[LH] We have an alliance. It's necessary.
[MC] Suddenly it's chilly in here. Did I hit a vein?
[LH] Sad vamp humor, Margie. Don't quit your day job.
[MC] Well?
[LH] He does my bidding. I can't help it if he has earthworm morals and I don't give a rat's ass.
[MC] I heard he can become any living shape he wants.
[LH] True.
[MC] Do you have a favorite shape, Ladislav? I get the impression there's more than just a "business arrangement" between you and Dirk.
[LH] If you weren't wearing all that copper jewelry, I'd show you exactly what kind of arrangement Dirk and I have. You'd be wearing only a grin - afterward.
[MC] Play nice, Laddy. I have my finger on the delete key.
[LH] I think you might enjoy a well-seasoned lover.
[MC] If you mean well-seasoned is over 300 years-old—
[LH] Your wit stings but I'd never hurt you.
[MC] Like you didn’t' hurt Tori?
[LH] I admit I turned her. Eternal life has a lot of pleasures and treasures to enjoy. How the hell was I to know she preferred catching the flu, getting wrinkles, and dying?
[MC] So she wasn't very happy about being turned into a vampire. How's your relationship now?
[LH] You're quite irritating. You know damn well that Tori considers me an eternal enemy. I know where she is but she usually keeps a continent or two between us. I think she's a bitch for holding a grudge this long.
[MC] What are you going to do about her?
[LH] She'll come around eventually. Right now my focus is on finding out where that bastard Wade Kairos hid Jui Fabrice.
[MC] My lips are sealed.
[LH] Why am I not surprised? Anyway, Kairos will pay for defying me, for chasing after a human. I'm not through with him or his lover, Jui.
[MC] In the next book – Dangerous Love, we'll learn all about your obsession with Tori and your relationship with Master Prophet Dirk. You two boys are pretty twisted.
[LH] Suit yourself. Maybe I am as evil as you hinted in Love Bites.
[MC] I think there's more to it. Much more.

There're lots of clues about the second book in that interview. Love Bites sets the stage for a fast, gritty read with plenty of sizzle. Thanks for coming by!

Can't wait to get my editing fingers on Dangerous Love... Husek and Dirk, eh? Will we be privy to what happens 'behind closed doors'? Do they even 'get a room'? Sounds fascinating, Margie. Get 'er done

Bryl, what would I do without your "insights"? Why get a room? Seems like when the time is ripe.....

Your interview with Laddy has convinced me that I need to read your book, "Love Bites". He's just the kind of bad boy I like to encounter in my books and Jui & Wade 's romance one of those must reads!

Hi Margie,
I love Laddy's pic. I'm working on a vamp Regency and had chosen the same picture. Twins perhaps?? Evil twins??
I love the interview. He is quite a character, is he not?
Wanted to stop by and say HI to you and Laddy.
Luv,
Brita

Of the gazillions to choose...evil minds think alike. LOL A twin? Maybe we should write an anthology. Ladislav will show his true colors in Dangerous Love. He was just teasing in Love Bites. thanks for coming by, Brita!

Hi there!
I really loved this interview. It was so witty and informative. It makes me want to go out and read "LOVE BITES" right away. I guess everyone else agrees with me, too, because the survey says: 100% of the people that read this article, liked it. How cool is that!?
If the contest is already over, just disregard this part of my comment. If not, then here's my email addy:

Hi Cynde! Thanks for the compliment and thank you for coming by. I'm sorry the contest for Love Bites has ended. I gave away a couple copies last week for different blogs. Subscribe and it'll be easier to win! I will stop by your blog to see what you're up to. It's always fun to meet another author. We can talk then about a guest appearance. Those are important to every writer and a lot of fun. I love your email addy - such a fun one!

Hi again, Margie!
That's OK about the contest. I figured it might be. I just missed the date somehow.
I already subscribed...at least I thought I did! I checked the box down below that says "subscribe to this blog" when I filled out my first comment--and I did it again just now, to be safe. Didn't that work?
I'm glad you like my email addy. I really AM named "Cynde Lou" (my twin sister's name is "Sande", so among other things, I've been called "Cynde-Lou-Who" (followed by "Honey-Chile", in a sing-songy Southern twang) for a loonnnnnggg time!

Hello again! What a nice treat. When I saw your email addy, I thought of the Cindy-Lou-Who from the Grinch! So you're a twin. Does your sister also write? I have brothers who are twins. What one doesn't think of.....the other does.
If you're getting notices of new posts, then the subscription worked. Thank you very much. I swung by your blog and left a comment. Nice looking blog. I'd love to guest. Send me some details and we'll work it out.
Thanks Cynde!

Just make sure Ladislav doesn't follow you home or his equally devious and uncontrollable shape shifting pal, Dirk. together, those two are deadly. I'm just sayin...

Hi Sue,
Yes, that's the right answer. What characteristics of vampires do you really like/hate? I'm working on the series and there's time to include reader ideas!
Thanks for coming by and I hope you will come back again.

I like when they are bad boys who have tortured souls. Ones where you can't help but; like them. I like them mysterious and sexy. I know there is more but; I can't think of anymore right now.

The hero in Love Bites, is like that. He so badly wants to love Jui - care about her even - but she is forbidden love. How he deals with that is really powerful at time and how he shows her he cares when he shouldn't. Well THUD is all I can say. Thanks for coming back Sue. I hope you've subscribed and keep up with me so I can keep up with you!

Noble Romance is really wonderful to work with and I've learned a lot from Jill Noble and the other authors there.
BTW, I heard from Bev today and invited her to blog with me sometime. We remain friends and that makes me happy. Sherri got in touch with me this week too. Warms my heart to keep up with Class Act family.

Hallöchen Margie,
looks like you found a way to keep Lad in line - power to the DEL key
Has he at least taken the time to show you around his city (Brno, Czech Republic)? Another beautiful old town like Heidelberg (and Dresden
Look forward to re-visiting great old European cities in your books!
Liebe Grüße
Kathrin

Oh Kathrin, Ladislav is truly giving me a run for my money today. He and Victoria are ruling my afternoon. LOL I spent quite a bit of time looking at real estate in Prague and Brno as I researched this book and the sequel. I hope you enjoy the series.
Liebe Grusse an Euch!

Oh, I love Prague, go there at least once a year (easy since one of my friends lives there and it's only 2 hours from Dresden). The city's got a great flair. Was there when they filmed Van Helsing - caught a glimpse of yummy Hugh. Prague is the perfect place for vampires - probably why they film so many movies of this genre there
I hope Victoria gives Lad a good run around - he sounds like he needs to come down a few steps

My mom has been to Prague but I haven't. If I get back to Germany, I'll have to go!
Victoria is definitely giving Ladislav a difficult time, especially when he's putty in her fingers. No spoilers!

You'll definitely have to go - and take the route via Dresden

That would be sweet!

The invitation stands, just call me on it when you get over here

What a blast we'd have. I'm seriously thinking next summer...fly over with mom. She stays 6 weeks. I couldn't do that but 2...Dresden isn't that far.

Hi again Margie:
I was so enthralled by the story I forgot to say Ladislaw lives in Brno, czech Republic.

Yes he does. And you are making it very difficult for me to choose a winner. I think I'm going to have to recruit a less partial judge!

Margie: Trying to keep up with you anad your books. I'm giving it my best shot to answer your contest question on Ladislav Husek...he is from Brno Chech Republic but dos he live in Heidelberg Germany? I have to keep up....Congrats on your writing.Sandy
