Hard As Teak Preview

Adults only - this excerpt is explicit.

This is the first two chapters of my WIP, Hard as Teak. This is my first gay romance and I think it's a really wonderful story. I'm almost finished writing it and I'm so looking forward to the scrubbing edits to make it ready to submit. Enjoy and I look forward to your comments!

Hard As Teak

Chiyo bounced on Kade's rigid cock, making rapid slapping sounds as her heart-shaped ass met his hips.

"Come on baby. Come for me." Her breathy voice hinted of exhaustion. A sheen of perspiration on her back illustrated Kade's conclusion, but he still wanted to run his index finger down her spine. That would make her nipples hard as nails.

"Come on baby, come," she repeated.

The hair on her nape looked damp. If they hadn't been fucking for what seemed like hours, Kade might have appreciated how sexy she looked covered in love sweat. Right now, he just wanted to finish the job. Concentrating on crossing the finish line, Kade raised his knees, changing the angle and depth of penetration one more time.

"Grab my balls."

Her fingers were a cool contrast to the heat between their bodies.

"Rub 'em—hard—now!" He pumped a couple more times and then grabbed Chiyo's hips, holding her still. Kade arched his back as his stubborn cum left his body. Fuckin' finally.

She slid off his hips and into his arms with a dreamy smile on her oval face.

Kade brushed her damp bangs from her forehead. "Sorry that took so long."

"I'm not complaining."

A chuckle rumbled in his chest, making him feel a little better about the frustrating marathon session. "Thanks." Kade grabbed the loaded tip of his condom and pulled the sex jacket off his limp cock. After tying the end, he dropped it in the wastebasket next to his bed.

Chiyo pressed a kiss on Kade's chest. "What time are you leaving tomorrow?"

"Five a.m.—maybe six. Why?"

She glanced at the clock. "We'd better get some sleep. It's nearly midnight."

"I'm going to take a shower first. Care to join me?"

"I'll be there in a minute."

When she smiled, her Japanese heritage made her look so innocent, young, and beautiful. He kissed her gently. "I'm going to miss you."

Tears glistened in her eyes. "Maybe when you come home you'll bring your passion with you, too."

He rolled out of bed and headed to the shower. "That'd be good."

Kade awoke the next morning long before the sun even cracked an eyelid. He sat at his wood kitchen table writing e-mails to his business associates and colleagues. A cup of black coffee, extra strong this morning, sat next to his right hand. The half-empty cup was his fourth and the clock hadn't reached 5:00 a.m. The shower he and Chiyo had shared last night invigorated him instead of lulling him into bedtime relaxation. They'd lain together afterwards, while last minute trip details chased through his head, and kept him awake long after she fell asleep.

Satisfied with his final missive, he pressed send and leaned back in his chair. His eyes burned from too little sleep and he knew he'd pay for it on the long drive east to Minnesota. He thought about crawling back into bed with Chiyo. He loved the way her body curled into his like the other half of a puzzle. She's smart, incredibly beautiful, talented, passionate, fun, never demanding or over-dramatic. So what the hell, Kade? Why can't you get your rocks off with her like you used to?

Soft footsteps came from the hallway. Chiyo walked into the dimly lit kitchen wearing a white satin robe. She stroked his cheek on her way to the coffee pot. While pouring her morning brew, she stifled a yawn with the back of her hand. "Did you sleep at all?"

"Some. Always last minute shit to tell Gail for the gallery."

She padded back to the table and set her cup down. "You sure she can run the place for a few weeks?"

"Yeah, I'm not worried. She runs the place most of the time anyway." He extended his hand. "Come here."

Chiyo slid onto his lap and Kade spread the thin satin fabric at her neckline. He was always horny in the morning. Didn't matter if he'd gotten laid two hours ago. His lips moved along her slender neck while he untied her sash. Underneath Chiyo was naked. He wasn't surprised and let out a low moan of approval when his fingertips sought her breasts.

Minutes later, Kade watched Chiyo's dark head bob back and forth as she sucked him.

"Damn you're good at that."

He held the sides of her head, controlling the tempo. Every time he pulled her head backward, his dick left her lips with a popping sound. Pre-cum smeared across her lips. She looks like a fucking goddess. Frustration set in and Kade ran through every porn video they'd ever watched, hoping to find the right inspiration to get him off before Chiyo gave up. Finally he settled on one they'd watched recently where two guys took turns with a woman and then the guys took turns with each other. The memory of their hard dicks exploding cum on her smiling face did the trick. His breath left his body in a huff and so did his cum. All over her mouth.

She licked her lips and wiped his cum with her fingers. Standing now, she pressed her soaked digits in his mouth. Kade always thought it was a payback for getting cum all over her face. Truth be told, he didn't mind the taste at all. He licked them clean with a smile.

"Your turn." He cleared the table and lifted her onto the surface. Spreading her legs and her pussy lips, Kade made her orgasm sweet enough to last until he came back home.

Chapter 2

Kade breathed a sigh of relief as he entered the Wescott city limits. The trip across the Dakotas had been mind-numbing, and his ass hurt from sitting in his truck for the past twelve hours. He still had to drive another forty-five minutes to get to the cabin. The sun had already set and he squinted a little as his eyes adjusted to the streetlights. Not that there were many.

The gas and grocery store on the west side of town was lit up and Kade pulled in. He let the pump run, getting more pissed by the second at the high cost of gasoline in the boonies. Sixty-five bucks later, the handle popped and his tank was full. He walked into the grocery store and pulled together the essentials for breakfast, and a six-pack of Bud.

The place was empty even though it was only a little past eight. The clerk rang up his fuel and groceries. "Anything else?"

"I need a propane tank filled. Can you have somebody stop out in the morning?"

The good-looking guy behind the counter shrugged. "Sure. What time?"

"I'll probably be up pretty early. Any time after six-thirty is probably fine."

The clerk grabbed a receipt book labeled PROPANE ORDERS and flipped through the spiral bound pages until he found a blank. His blond head remained bowed as he asked the questions. "Name?"

"Kade Marks."

"Address?"

"Falcon Ridge Road. Fire number 8664B."

The guy glanced up from his scribbling. "I've been up that way grouse hunting and fishing a few times. Beautiful country. You on the lake?"

"Yeah, and not far from the river either." The gas station employee appeared to be in his early twenties. Probably just old enough to sell the cold brew waiting on the counter.

"I haven't seen you before. You new?"

Kade was surprised about the clerk's friendly and curious attitude. Then he remembered where he was. Small town folks act this way all the time. He brushed his hair out of his eyes. "My grandpa used to own the place. I bought it from him awhile back. I haven't been up since last fall."

"You picked a good time. Most of the tourists are gone for the season. Hunting's been amazing and late season fishing is still pretty good. Stop by the bait shop. They'll give you all the latest."

"Yeah, I'll do that. Thanks for the tip. By the way, how cold is it supposed to get tonight?"

"Forecast is low forties. You'll probably be colder by the lake." The young guy behind the counter seemed to really enjoy being the local expert.

"Better throw a couple bundles of wood on the bill in case there's none left at the cabin. I can't remember if the propane tank was completely empty or not." Kade glanced around, wondering what else he might need. "I'd hate to freeze my balls off first night out."

The clerk chuckled. "For sure."

"Sorry about that. What do I owe you?"

"You have to pay for the propane in advance. Do you know how big the tank is?"

Kade thought for a second before taking out his wallet. "I knew I'd forget." He found the folded slip of paper with the tank information as well as the alarm system and a couple other helpful pieces of information he'd need.

The cash register made blips and beeps as Kade's purchases were scanned and added up. "Two ninety-one, seventy-seven."

"Holy shit." Kade gave the clerk another apologetic glance, and slid his Visa across the counter.

"At least that propane oughta last you a few months if it doesn't get too damn cold."

The cuss word made Kade smile. The guy is trying to act more adult. Kade remembered those days. Sometimes he still had them.

The clerk slid Kade's receipt across the counter with a pen and pointed out where to sign. "You staying awhile?"

"Not sure." He finished scribbling his name on the line and took his copy. "Depends."

The clerk put the signed receipt in the drawer and seemed to understand not to ask, "Depends on what?"

Kade put his wallet back in his pocket and picked up his bag of groceries. "Anything still open for dinner around here?"

"Maybe Luke's place off second."

"Thanks. I'll see you around." He pushed through the door. Moths hovered around the light and Kade swatted a few out of his face on his way to the truck. The air held a damp chill. Shivering a little, he hoped there'd be enough propane left in the tank to heat the cabin tonight.

After putting his groceries in the back seat, he went back for his wood bundles. The truck tailgate made a metallic groan as Kade pulled it down and dumped in the first armload. A few pieces of bark stuck into his T-shirt. He brushed them off and went back for round two. Cutting across the parking lot, Kade noticed the store employee observing his every move. What does he think I'm gonna do? Take the whole pile? Kade gave the vigilant guy a wave of acknowledgment and got a smile in return. Friendly shit. Man, I've really turned city.

Luke's Burgerz and Brewz was closed for the night and there was no such thing as a drive-through in Wescott. Kade cursed himself for not stopping at the last town forty miles back. Tonight his empty stomach would have to be content with peanut butter sandwiches and Bud. Grinning, he drove out of town, into the starlit night.

Narrow, two-lane highway lay ahead of him, making the northern Minnesota highway a real adventure in concentration. Oncoming traffic gave Kade's dimmer switch a workout and messed with his night vision. Trees seemed to grow right up to the shoulders, crowding his vision with overhanging branches, many already bare. Kade knew better than to speed down this stretch of road. At this time of year, deer seemed to play chicken with cars and he didn't need antlers for a hood ornament. His headlights reflected a pair of shining eyes and Kade slowed down his F-150 to get a closer look. The critter disappeared into the underbrush. A few miles later, he caught a whiff of skunk as his truck sailed past the road kill. His face screwed up in disgust and Kade rolled down the window, wanting to air the stink out pronto.

He scanned through the radio channels. After listening to a hodgepodge of B-side songs, commercials, and the end of a high school football game fading in and out, he turned the buzzing noise off. Even satellite radio can't cope with this much granite.

Five minutes later and still deer-free, Kade turned on Lower Falcon Ridge Road. Gravel crunched under his tires and low patches of fog erupted from the slews. He remembered plenty of winter nights when he'd gone drinking with his buddies and come sliding around the corners a little too fast. More times than Kade could remember, he'd planted his grill in a snowbank or the icy-slick shoulder snagged his tire. Kade's Dodge nearly ended up in one of the swamps on several occasions, too. The guys would pour out of the car to push the vehicle back onto the road. Kade would listen to his friends bitching about how cold it was and laugh from inside his heated car. And he'd deal with any damage in the morning. Or not.

Kade snorted as he recalled the times his Grandpa Lee would pour his hung-over grandson a cup of steaming black coffee around lunchtime. He'd gaze sternly at Kade and try to put matching authority in his voice. "Have a little fun last night?"

Kade never answered the question dead-on. "The usual. Nobody got hurt. No bail required."

"That Dodge can't take too many more near misses, eh?"

"It's a beater. It gets beat." Why Grandpa Lee had put up with his teenaged bullshit was something Kade never understood but was grateful for his grandfather's patience. He spoke into his cab, silent except for the rumble of his tires. "Miss ya Gramps."

An oncoming car forced Kade to pull onto the shoulder. Bright headlights stung his eyes. "Turn those fuckers down."

He flicked his brights on and off a couple times to send the message to the careless driver. The approaching car's dims came on. "Took ya long enough." He blinked quickly, anxious for the spots in his vision to disappear.

The car's driver gave him a "sorry about that" kind of wave as the vehicles passed on the dirt road. Loose rock kicked up as his truck tires spun a bit and Kade pulled back into the main road. He drove the last mile in peace.

Clusters of mailboxes marked the turnoff to Falcon Ridge Road. Wooden directional signs with family names on them cluttered the space behind the mailboxes. Not that anyone could actually find somebody's home or cabin using these signs. All you could be sure of was you were on the right lake. After that, you were on your own.

Kade's place was near the end of the road. At the blue and white sign with fire number 8664B on it, Kade put the truck in park. The headlights shone on the gate and Kade got out while reaching for his wallet. He took out the folded slip of paper he'd used at the gas station and held it into the light to read off the lock combination. Moths and beetles buzzed around his head while he worked the combination and unhooked the gate. Pushing it open made a painful sounding squeak that seemed much too loud for such a small set of hinges. Kade secured the gate in the open position. Welcome robbers.

With the gate noise stopped, the air was eerily silent. Kade glanced at the sky, which looked like a million pinpricks of light. He'd missed this solitude and beauty. If he weren't so tired and concerned about cold overnight temps, he'd have gotten out his camera and taken a few shots.

The truck door slammed with a solid thunk and Kade drove onto his property. Remnants of summer grew in the dirt between the gravel tire tracks. Branches brushed along his truck doors and caught in his side mirrors before snapping free. Kade made a mental note to put roadwork on his stuff to do list. He turned the last sharp corner, climbed the hill, and the cabin roof appeared. A pair of raccoons sitting in the driveway greeted Kade. They seemed to wait until the last minute before scampering away. He left the truck running and walked up the long, wood porch to unlock the door. Reaching for the light switch inside the door, he hoped the utility company got his voice message two days ago.

"Be on."

The porch and foyer lights came on immediately, making Kade glad he wasn't going to have to fumble around in the dark all night.

Hello!! That picture got my attention

Poor Kade, I sense some confusion, angst and self-discovery ahead.

I love the detail of the sights and sounds of Kade's journey. It reminded me of time when I lived in rural North Dakota, right down to the radio reception.

Has this story been picked up yet? I am ready for the rest of it.

Hi Gail! I'm glad I drew you into the story with a memory of your own. I like when readers tell me I've done that. The story is not contracted - I have a couple chapters to go and then final edited. I'm glad to know you'll be waiting for it.

thank you for being a friend and a fan,

      Hugs,

Hi Tanya! Thanks for commenting. I have a few chapters to write yet and editing to do before submission to a publisher. I'd love to see it on the market by spring. Depending on who takes it, that could happen earlier. Some publishers have extremely long waiting lists for their submissions editors...which means you might be waiting up to 3 months for a yes or no just on the contract and then you get into their editing and production cues. Hate that! But it's the nature of the game.

I'm very excited about this book and I'll be chirping about its progress. Come by any time and ask for an update. I love to hear from you.
