Sascha Illyvich - The Bad Boy of Romance

The self-proclaimed bad boy of romance joins me today to talk about romance. Why does Sascha write it and more importantly, why does he read it? Take a listen.

Great video, Sascha! It's always nice to hear from the Y-chromosome bunch; makes me feel a little less afloat in the estrogen ocean!
(Um, er, not that there's anything wrong with that... Shit. I HATE the taste of boot leather first thing in the morning! *Awkward wave to Margie*)
Margie does have a knack for attracting terrific talent; KevaD, K.B. Cutter, you... Oh yeah, I checked out your backlist Congratulations on your success!

Thanks JS, I don't mind the taste of boot leather, mostly cause my subs are the ones that have to deal with it, not me! Yes I'm an accomplished old school author with a passion for this business and a desire to make a solid, high income limit from it.

I don't mind the estrogen sea, but to get away from it...well you saw the Tres Maduro in my hand.

      Thanks!

Saw the video blog post. Good to know that there are unrepentant male readers of romance and male authors not worried about their gender impacting their work.

Being unrepentant about a LOT of aspects of my life has been a challenge. There are a LOT of professionals that frown on what I do and the real reason I wager is because they're honestly jealous that I make a living doing what I'm passionate about. And despite the odds, I will not only become wealthy but make a huge impact on the state of this industry.

My gender is an enhancement to not only my writing but the business aspect since I teach classes on Male POV to romance authors.

I finally got over here! Great blog, and I must say very good taste in cigars Sascha--my husband shares that passion with you...I'm always excited to see male romance writers out of that closet--and I know that there are plenty of readers out there--I have tons...the tides of this industry are shifting.

Oh Lila he'd LOVE the tres maduro

It's a fascinating study for me to be in this genre as I watch it shift. I come from the porn world to some extent (via WriteSEX and writing erotica) and making the shift over to romance was not that hard. In fact, I've been a diehard Harlequin Reader for much of my career too. Particularly the BLAZE line but I have submissions targeted towards other lines of theirs.

      Thanks for the support
